At some point while being employed at that startup I could try the smell of being kind of a gun for hire when working on the app version of the surprisingly popular tv program website tvtv.de. The design is definitely dated but it gained its popularity in Germany by being fast and easily skimmable which should be translated into the mobile context and environment as well.
The focus is clearly on showing the current German tv program, secondarily at (also pretty German) prime times 20:15 and 22:00, front and center, with additional options to see recommendations by the editorial team and the channel browser.
Apparently the app got updated and redesigned, so unfortunately you can't have a look at my favorite feature any more: the quite original »Other Time« skimmer. 😉
